laserblazer Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 One of our new teachers just handed me her son's laptop. He can't remember the password even with the hint. I hit ctr/alt/del twice and there in the username was "teacher". So I ask teacher if she can remember the password. She gave me some possibilities, none work. All of the obvious administrator passwords fail. I'm blocked from downloading any tools, so is there any other way of sorting this short of re-installing XP? It's a Dell Latitude D510. Could this come with a default administrator password?
Domino Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 without downloading something like the OPHcrack livecd, only a reinstall will work

LeMarchand Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 There's a tool on the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows that will wipe the admin password (it's supposed to be able to change it, but I've not had any luck with that). Then you can boot into safe mode and make any necessary changes.
