MK-2 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I've got myself an N95 8GB and just found the Mail for Exchange (MfE) prog. It's meant to do the synching to an exchange server etc. I've put in all the details and keep getting back various errors. Google brings up pages of results where people say its the exchange server or isa. On ISA i've published the mail server and included OWA/OW mobile and activesync. yet whatever i put in for the exchange server, be it : admin/exchange or 192.168.254.2/exchange or the external ip or any of those without /exchange i cannot sync. Is there anything else on an exchange or isa side i should be looking at? It's Exchange 2003 SP2 and ISA 2004. also, if anyone has an n95 and has it working.....TELL ME PLEASE!!

OWA was already used here, and mobile device access was set to on. I've got mine set up using just the IP of the exchange server (without /exchange) and secure connection set to "off" Do any other mobile devices access exchange there?

Not sure about the Nokia brick sorry You mean Blackberries or Windows Mobile, the iPhone only managed rudimentary support for proper corporate email in the 2.0 software which is still buggier than the Amazon rain forest from what I hear. Blackberry works well for clients as the hardware is hugely stable and the devices have a long battery life its server software is awful though. Windows Mobile integrates seamlessly to add secured push email directly from your Exchange server and the latest iPhone software does support Exchange integration without any extra software required on the exchange server. For the OP, have you tried accessing the yourserver.co.uk/oma page from a browser and can you access it. I would also check that OMA is enabled for the user in the extended exchange properties of teh user in AD as you can enable and disable these features individually from there.

OWA is used here, and i can access that on a browser. i'm only thinking its a server side thing as a teacher tried with his iphone and got errors trying to sync up too.

Not sure about the Nokia brick sorry I can't get my iPhone to connect to our Exchange server . It just won't play ball. I have to auto forward a copy to another account to pick it up. Sadly the iPhone will not use the reply address I've set (same as work address) so they see and reply directly to the forwarding account. HBJB

I think that you may require a signed cert to use the iPhone sync tool. OWA and outlook mobile access/activesync are different services and are published individually so there may be something in there stuffing it up. I know that we had problems when using a single server for OMA/Activesync on Exchange 2000 as it preffered a front/back end setup but I am pretty certain that that is fixed in 2003. Have you tried linking up your n95 to the internal wireless and attempting to sync locally as this could help rule out ISA as the cause.
MK-2 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 the internal wireless (all 4 APs of it!) is weird. I find the SSID, define the point with the wep key, and the next time i go to browse with it, the wep key is asked for. and it asks every time like it cant remember it. i'll try again tomorrow, but the main error i get outside of work, trying to sync over wifi using my home net connection is it connects, then comes up with "Error in Exchange server. Try again later!" I've googled that and got various results back, but nothing conclusive enough that works. i know there are other programs that can sync up outlook stuff like calendar but im not going to pay for a product if i cant even get a free one to work!

I think that your best bet would be to try syncing with a Windows mobile device as that is far more likely to give you helpful errors that may actually help you to resolve the issue. If you do not have a WM device handy you can always use the free standalone emulators. Guest drewinc Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I have setup 5 x nokia E71 with mail for exchange here , The address setting must not include the /exchange Must select whether its a secure connection (https) or not On the server I created a mobile service After entering all the credentials on the phone --- have got them syncing Email / Calendar / Tasks.
