Laptop trolley cabling

Hello,

Does anyone have a way of cabling a laptop trolley to stop the cables being yanked out and ending up looking like a bad hair day?

 

Do you bundle the spare cable and tie it up so that there is just enough spare cable for it to be plugged into the device? Is it OK to bundle the cables like this when charging?

 

I have tried many different ways/ties/clips but still after half a term it looks like Medusa on a bad day!

 

Any suggestions/photos would be appreciated!

But seriously, ours have the adapters in a separate compartment, they are Velcro’d to the trolley chassis/shelf, and the usb-cables are presented into the main compartment via a grommet. Slack is dealt with in the separate compartment with the cables coiled and Velcro’d.  Only slightly more than “just  enough” cable is present into the laptop compartment.

 

the ac adapters are not from the laptop oem, but ones supplied with the trolley and have unusual lengths on the cables that make them better suited to the deployment than laptop oem’s generic-use laptop adapters.

 

even then they still get pulled, connected to wildly misplaced laptops and slammmed in the door/hinges by careless (and in some cases, malicious) users.

Thanks! I think maybe all laptop trolleys look the same after half a term no matter what we do!

How on earth Laptop 1 is plugged into Laptop 9's cable and all the other criss-crosses will never cease to amaze me!!

I'm going with clips and extra cable ties this time .... roll on October half-term for the big reveal of what it looks like by then!!

We had a lovely wireless charging trolley for some Learnpads and even then people would put them the wrong way up or jam them in at an angle, or more often than not, just leave them on the top. Sigh...

More often than not, that's what happens at our Secondary Academy.  Once even that didn't happen - we were asked to move the laptop trolley from one building to another, so we did.  When the Teacher opened up the trolley, there was not a single laptop in it!!  We searched the room/area it came from and could not find a single laptop as someone somewhere had used the set and not bothered putting them back when they were finished with them.

We've always bought LapSafe Mentor trolleys for our needs, the power cables are custom fitted inside depending on requirements and only long enough to plug into a laptop.

 

They're not cheap by any means but we bought most of our 10 trolleys between 2013-2016 and still have them all. We have to pay to have the charging cables changed to a new model of laptop but that balances out because we're not buying new chargers constantly, otherwise they'll happily sell you spare cables for in-house repairs.

We have a number of trollies in use and use the cable tie/velcro solution. However I have a trolly that is just 2 shelves so I drilled a whole where each laptop is placed and have cable tied the PSU into position at the back of the shelf with just the plug coming forward.
