synaesthesia Posted October 16 Posted October 16 What are people's thoughts on keeping a local appliance running? On one hand it's still rather reliant on the cloud connection, but on the other it still gives manageability in the instance of outages etc. The only real downside is the lack of saml support for easy pass but need to properly weigh up any pros and cons. As I've alluded to before, the reliance on cloud controlled systems and whatever may befall them makes me quite nervous!
DavR Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I might keep the cloud appliance, for as far as I've got with it, on my server but shut down, in case I ever need to come back to it. But if the cloud service is back supported, and still has a future, then I'll go back to that. Yes, this has been a scare and an eye opener for how easily cloud services can be taken away, but at the same time the same arguments that made cloud service attractive over on prem still hold water. 3
