Hi there

We have a gremlin appearing with a few users, they are all using same build and versions of Windows and Office.

However have a few where Edge, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Chrome or Firefox will just close randomly.
I have users that this happening daily and others that it happened for a couple of days and hasn't happened for the last couple of weeks now.

You reopen Edge and it asks if you want to restore the tabs.

Nothing seems to be on the Event logs to pinpoint what's happening.

Windows build being used is fully patched
Edge is the latest version

Tried new user profile and still the same.

Any ideas

Thanks

My first port of call would be to note the time of when these applications close and cross match them with the times in event viewer on the machine,

look at the  Application events and see if anything is shown around the time, It will give you an event ID which will help you troubleshoot why they are closing / crashing

If you have any third-party security software in place, perhaps consider whether that's jumping in somehow where it's not wanted?

Those apps you've mentioned all have automatic update mechanisms that an EDR might be interfering with, for instance.

if you can do it, try "perfmon /rel" in the run box as the user getting the closes, it will tell you if there are any actual crashes or failures
