Roaming profile issue with "Must Change Password" and XP SP3

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up for anyone in the following situation:

1) XP SP3 machines on their domain,

2) Set your user accounts so that the user must change their password at logon,

3) User has a roaming (mandatory or not, doesn't matter) profile configured

The user won't get their profile, - they'll get a local one instead, and that will keep happening until they restart the machine.

MS apparently fixed the bug in Vista (see KB 941797) but say nothing about XP.

No, and they don't confirm the bug in XP either in that article, is this an official problem or just one that you've been having?

It's something I ran into this afternoon, - I've just confirmed it with a couple of other people (including DMcCoy, who'll probably be along in a moment!).

Could be a fairly major issue for schools :|

Yes, it's well and truely broken

I have mandatory, logout if no profile is available already turned on and it ignored everything and just logged in with the default profile.

Even a relog doesn't fix it, only a reboot :(

Anyone managed to find a fix for this? - As we have the very same issue...
