thimon Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Morning all. Sorry if this has been raised already, do you currently have any reliable way of reporting student device screen time? It looks like it will eventually be a metric that we will have to report - Government to review children's screen time in schools | Tes We have a BYOD scheme at the senior school, where students bring in personal devices, so I imagine would be much harder to report such data on. Internet activity can't be relied on, as devices will still ping online activity even when not actively used. Thank you.
Sylv3r Posted June 10 Posted June 10 We aren't currently doing anything with it i.e. looking at reports etc. But I understand that Lightspeed filtering now has this functionality.
tom_newton Posted June 10 Posted June 10 We have this functionality in our US filter stack - it will be coming to the UK in due course
thimon Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 @tom_newton Can it report the same data for personal devices that connect to school WiFi?
sigma Posted June 10 Posted June 10 The Government release doesn't mention anything about "time" per se, but looks to be rather more qualitative as far as schools are concerned. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/newguidance-on-screen-use-for-children-aged-5-16
sigma Posted June 10 Posted June 10 If anyone feels inclined, this is where you can respond to the Government Call for Evidence: https://consult.education.gov.uk/screen-time-policy-team/screen-use-by-children-aged-5-to-16-cal/
