I'm trying to capture some video from a camcorder but it isn't working. The tape plays fine on the camera screen but when captured to the computer it jumps (kind of like it's missing every other frame).

I have tried two camcorders, various different software and nothing helps. I have the most up to date drivers on my machines and I believe the tape is fine as it plays OK in either camcorder.

Anyone got any help with this?

Just as an update - I have tried defragging HDD to see if this was cause - It isn't :(

Even if I don't start recording and just preview the view on the PC via the firewire cable it still does the same.

Any help?

What make is the camera? could be theres drivers for that, whereas windows would assume it could use the standard firewire connection ones

hmm, is there an accleration/optimization app for the video card?

The drivers may be up to date but sometimes there's an app which needs installing to get the best out of it. check the manufacturers website

There doesn't appear to be any driver downloads available for neither make/model of camcorder.

The last time I successfully used these camera's I didn't have any special drivers installed then
