PC's Slow down after switch user to log in

Hi guys, 

 

Just cursious if anyone else has experienced anything simular. Over last summer's break we upgraded our teaching machines to windows 11. Since the upgrade, when a teacher logs on for a lesson and forgets to sign out, when the next teacher uses the machine the performance is slow even if the current user is just trying to use a browser with nothing else running. The machines this happens most frequently are HP 400 G9's, all have 8GB's of RAM and when checking task manager whilst it's performing slowly it is not even close to maxing out the RAM usage. We have tried updating drivers & BIO's version but to no avail. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced simular since upgrading to windows 11 and even if there's a solution other than buy more RAM

If they are using switch user, the other user is still using system resources in the background.

 

You can disable switch user if that is an option for you via GPO, forcing users to sign out completely.

 

8GB of memory is pushing it a bit with Windows 11, but it should be enough just for basic office apps, browsing (for one user)

Serious problem for us, some times you find 4 teachers signed in to a device. Unfortunately this is how our teachers want it, even though they complain the computers are slow they want to have lessons prepped before they show up to teach.

I wonder if they feel the need to have lessons prepped because they experience slow computers due to 3 other teachers prepping lessons. Not a lot of room swapping here and we don't allow fast user switching but I've seen teachers with a dozen powerpoints open ready for their 5 lesson day.
