Morning,

I was wondering if anyone could guide me in to how to achieve printing from Chromebooks.

I can install Papercut Mobility on my print server and I guess I then push out the Papercut app to my Chromebooks.

How do I then print?

Currently, our school printers work with staff only and users are linked to the printer via their AD username and Windows devices.

Our students do not have AD accounts and only login to the Chromebooks with their own school Google accounts.

It needs to be a simple system for primary children.

Thankyou.

Google Cloud Directory is available as a secondary sync source into PaperCut, so perhaps the student Google accounts could be added that way?

Not a Google school so don't have much experience there myself, though.

Install papercut mobility print on your print server.

Select the print queues you want to publish

Force install the papercut mobility print to the users you want to print along with a JSON config file.

The papercut mobility print queues will appear as printers in Chrome.

Regarding it needs to be a simple system for primary children, don't let them print. Better to use Google classroom, the teachers can print what they really need.

I've wanted to look at this.... however we only want our library printer to appear on the library chromebooks. not the reset of the chromebooks around the school. my understanding is that assigning the printers is user/ou based and not device based..... would hate the whole school printing to the library just because they can.

unless i'm totally wrong here.

That's where find-me queues and secure print release come in. They can enter their username & password at the MFD (or if you're on NG, on a Release Station you put next to the printer) and collect their job, and it could be collected at any printer on the network, not just a single printer (useful if one breaks down for any reason)

Ah yes, our SLT don't want print release for students. their prints just come out in the classroom with the dedicated compute and print hardware.
