Hitting my head against the wall with this one and i am not sure weather the issue lies with our setup or the boards.

Have 2 new 75" Iiyama IWBs

The computers for both the boards seem to occasionally stop duplicating, seems to happen a lot with PowerPoint, but will happen outside of powerpoint too and needs to be reduplicated.

Sound quality is poor (Tinny)

1 Board seems to have a delay when the sound from (whatever) starts to play, in the sense you may miss the first word in a sentence, this has not been reported on the other board, but they do less stuff with sound so may not have noticed it.

Sometimes when duplicating the screen, touch will randomly stop working or duplication will and the relevant USB/HDMI needs to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work, shows as an "unknown device" in device manager

What i have tried/Info:

Its a new enough computer (I5 16GB, 256GB)

Updated Graphics Drivers

Allowed all the USB Devices in our Device List

Up to date Win 11 Enterprise

New Cables

Cables directly from PC Into Board, bypassing what we have in the wall (which should be new anyway)

Firmware/Andriod up to date on the IWB

Lowering Refresh rate on monitor and IWB

Unplugged everything apart from IWB, M&K usb wise from the computer to rule out USB Bandwidth issues

Issue is regular enough to be disruptive, but not enough for me to sit in a classroom to watch it, or try a different device like a laptop

HDMI/USB Lengths are reasonable, room layout doesn't give much freedom to move the PC to get it on super short cables

PC Model: Dell 7010 MFF (the new 7010 not the old one)

Pretty sure its not user error

I am talking with our suppliers about it, they are slow but somewhat helpful.

I was hoping someone here would go "oh yeh there's this stupid setting somewhere"

Dell 7010 MFF (the new 7010 not the old one)

I Have updated sound/graphics, but not sure about USB, They were bundled weirdly

Have a check on the HDMI settings on the screen - I had to change from HDMI 2.0 to HMDI 1.4 due to some screen issues (which included flashing screens and duplication/extend issues)

Where abouts is the setting for this?

@mdrabble exactly what I was going to suggest. Not every panel has the option to change EDID though.

@machy I don't know the iiyama boards, but typically, it would either be:

  • settings, display, advanced
  • settings display, screen
  • settings, video
  • or in a hidden debug menu

You need to make sure you are on the relevant HDMI input on the screen. If the screens do not have an EDID switch (most modern screens should do). Then you can purchase an EDID switch and put it in between the PC and screen and it will have switch on this to go between EDID 2.0 and 1.4.

There's more to it, but essentially EDID 2.0 can do 4K/60, EDID 1.4 can do 4K/30. Most modern laptops have a GPU that can cope with 4K/60, but not all HDMI ports can, they may still be HDMI 1.4 ports; so it causes drop out. Or it could be a cable length issue, 4K/60 is higher bandwidth and can impact maximum cable length run (quality of cable has an impact too).

Thanks, Chris

I didn't get involved in the deployment of it here, but I got the impression that Iiyama might have an "available on request" firmware update that just forces EDID 1.4, because I was pretty sure out boards used to be 4k/60 but when I was doing a general classroom IT spot check recently noticed that even with 8K Active Optical Cabling 4K/30 was what they were connecting at even on the best laptops.

Do you know what firmware you iiyama boards are on?

To check on iiyama - you need to switch over to the android side on things.

Go to app, and settings.

Input & Output and then Advanced HDMI Settings

From here you can change to HDMI 1.4

Their support is normally pretty good.

I emailed for updated firmware for our ProLite TE7512MIS-B1AG screen and they sent over a link to firmware and instructions on how to manually update them if they fail to automatically update (which we had some refusing to auto update).

Thank you all,

Have found the HDMI Setting and have the teacher seeing how it works for them now

Still have touch dropping out if anyone has further ideas on that?

After Several Weeks of back and forth with IIyama and spending FAR to much money on a cable, Iiyama have sent me a PR Firmware, which has since broke sound from the pc to the IWB...

On the bright side, the touch issue has (so far) resolved with the addition of a USB Hub

Still battling with this sound issue

Iiyama have been able to replicate the issue there end, and our suppliers have been able to replicate a similar issue with Smart & I3 Boards. So at this point i want to know if its a widespread unnoticed issue or we are just super unlucky

Is anyone with an Iiyama Series 12 B4 or later, or any other model IWB installed since July last year able to test?

1) Make sure no sound is playing on the computer and your audio device is set to play through the IWB

2) Open some sort of audio/video where it will be obvious if sound isn't playing when it should. (Tom Scott videos are good for this when he talks to the camera)

3) Play the video, Does the sound start immediately?

4) If no and it takes 2-5 Seconds, whooo you have the issue. If yes, Pause the video, wait 30 seconds and play again

5) If sounds starts straight away, pause and then turn on something like "bass boost" in the sound settings of the IBW and then try steps 3&4 again

Iiyama's support is driving me to distraction, I'm finding them extremely poor. Our issue isn't IWB's but digital signage displays that can't do something as simple as keep track of time. Not a major issue until you need them to turn on/off on a schedule and they change their own dates for no reason whatsoever. Iiyama's only response so far has been to do a firmware update, and radio silence after that despite many attempts.
