Hello, is the Education Plus subscription worthy?

We are wondering if it's good value.

It would be used just for the staff as it's an SEN school.

Been looking into this for security purposes. Would like to know what other schools are using it for too?

at 4.80 per licence, are schools just upgrading their staff to education plus licences?

thanks

For me it would depend on a few factors, such as how much Google is embedded in your school currently and what you future aims are regarding Google Management, e.g. do you want to use Google to managed your Windows estate too?

We had the standard subscription (one below Plus) before our new MAT moved us to a Microsoft setup (cries!)

For me it was worth it, it allowed us to use GCPW and windows device management - this enabled me to remove their aging server.

I also used the enhanced security tools a lot, along with context aware.

Thanks for the input.

It's mostly for teachers. Office staff just use Windows but the head asked me to research if it would help teachers with their paperwork.

It's not clear to me that's the case.

It's used for the assessment and curriculum and paperwork in general.

The office use Windows atm.

Biggest differences are behind the scenes. I'd say a secondary school using Google primarily *must* have it if only to enable proper auditing and security, as the free version is, IMHO, too lax and reporting is poor. There's apparently some teaching/classroom related benefits but unfortunately I don't know what they are in real terms.

I find that Google are less likely than Microsoft to charge for security features, although conditional access, security center and advanced mobile MDM are paid features.

Things I'd really miss are AppSheet, Android work profiles and Cloud Search. Configure a custom browser search engine to use Cloud Search and it's a wicked timesaver when finding documents.

Thanks for all the replies.

It seems like the consensus is that it's great from an admin perspective.

Not so much for teachers.

In our case, students are not accessing it due to their cognitive ability.
