chazzy2501 Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 The Surface GO4 with 128GB storage and the keyboard... (a £90 option) This tablet took almost a full hour to just to configure Windows (not install) and to join the domain... I've got 10 more of these! FML.. What dog poop. a 5 year old apple ipad would smoke this thing. Here it is barely eeking a win from a mobile dual core released in 2012....
DalekSec Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 Meanwhile you can get an M4 Mac Mini for cheaper than this 1
chazzy2501 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 (edited) Aww jeeebus... This was the EX VAT price.... £766.80 all in for this.... Just epically poor value. (when management demand a tablet because it HAD to have a rear camera) I can't believe anyone from Microsoft ever gave a few of these to normal people and asked them to set one up and watch the rage and frustration of this over priced, slow as 5hits, thing as it strips joy from their lives and go "yeah, great, ship it like that!" Edited September 8, 2025 by chazzy2501 front rear, matters for some. 2
3s-gtech Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 It’s not good. 6W TDP is always going to be tough with an OS as bulky as Windows 11 is (and it’s a RAM-hungry pig). I’ve had my fill of Surface machines. Won’t touch them now. 1
MisterTechMan Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 That's not far off what I've just paid for a batch of the new 12" Surface Pro with Snapdragon! Which are great btw.

ovenchips Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 The Intel N- chips are Atom's all over again in all but name, great for small single use machines like a NAS .etc, but terrible for virtually anything else. 1

Obviously can't be imaged with MDT as the arboriculture isn't supported. Also won't run Active Directory management. We have just joined a Surface Pro to the domain with no issues and it does look nice. Our user insisted on the Snapdragon Elite processor which made it a bit more expensive. My Latitude was cheaper than the i5 version and the battery really lasts a day and a half, even with Teams meetings.
