VeryPC Broadleaf mini - all sorts of issues!

Hi,

 

We bought quite a few of the Very PC Broadleaf Minis over the summer break and so far I've had nothing by trouble with them. I have machines that lock up / freeze after a few minutes, I have machines that drop off the LAN for no reason. I've even got machines that will Wake on Lan, and then drop off the network while booting into Windows. I've updated drivers etc and am using the latest Realtek NIC drives from the Realtek website.

 

I've tried a few things like changing settings in the BIOS and for some it's made a bit of difference and they seem to be more stable, but for maybe half a dozen of them, they are just unusable.

 

Has anybody else bought from VeryPC and currently having any of these issues? Any workarounds that they would like to share?

Might be worth putting up the machines motherboard make and model. See if others have machines using the same, or similar motherboard.

The PC is one of these, rebadged as Very PC Broadleaf mini

PC / Motherboard is GCA01, BIOS version 5.26 dated 26/06/2024 with no updates on the JWI website.

 

Not all of them are flaky, but it's not great when you need them to work first time everytime for lessons.

We've had a few reports of these dropping LAN connections, could we get the potential fix sent over?

Hi All,  bought 20 of these for a classroom.  Have had issues with network cards going into hidden devices when checking device manager. 

Fix was to shut down, pull out power cable for 20 seconds and power back up.

Lately getting the whole network going down, port flapping on the switch. Cause is network cards, not sure if a windows update caused the issue.

Nic currently installed is 

Realtek PCIe GbE Family controller

Driver date 11/05/2021

Version 10.50.511.2021

Can someone let me know what version of nic installed and if working ok please.

Reliable and compatible network ports is not a VeryPC strong point.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago for our Music dept. as it had a Thunderbolt 4 port on the front that they required. Ours also drops off the network periodically and I found that a restart doesn't fix it, instead you have to go into the BIOS and disable the ethernet adapter, reboot, then back in the BIOS and re-enable the adapter and then it comes back.

Rather annoying and there doesn't seem to be any fix for it that I'm aware of. On ours, I've had to configure the wireless adapter so it'll connect if the ethernet adapter drops out again but it's not ideal.

You've probably looked at this, but have you disabled the power management on the cards to stop them snoozing?

 

That said, I had a similar issue on  Lenovo laptop yesterday but with the trackpad. My research suggested that it was probably something to do with W11's aggressive power management. A BIOS update fixed my problem, but I don't know how long that will last.

 

I'm wondering if it's older hardware not liking W11's power management.

I certainly thought I had but knowing W11, it's probably reset whatever I've set.

I'm not liking W11's aggressive power management much. I've got one suite of PCs that no matter what I set, they all go back to sleep 10 seconds after power on if no one touches them, and this seems to cause strange issues with OneDrive.

Hi,  unticked the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in power management within device manager quite a while ago, but thanks for the hint.
