InTune N00b questions about Chromebook enrollment

We've recently added InTune to our licensing. At present we have AD/GPO for our Windows machines, Mosyle Free for our iPads and Google Workspace for our Chromebooks. I'd rather, at least in the short term, keep this - mainly because I can understand it.

 

However, I'm considering converting laptops that won't run W11 to ChromeOS Flex. Is it possible to use InTune for these ONLY and also does this obviate the need for the Google £25 license?

Also, most of the proposed devices would be shared. I'd rather have the pupils log onto them individually for safeguarding purposes so there will be multiple users/device. My reading suggests it's kiosk mode, which might be OK as they would just need Chrome but would be hard to track kids playing up, or one to one, which we don't have enough devices for. Is it really this strict?

Whilst I believe you can put a Chromebook into InTune I don't believe you can push any settings etc - I think it's just for reporting and conditional access etc.

 

You will need a management licence for each ChromeOS Flex device to manage it.

 

You don't want to use kiosk mode for this at all, you need users logging into each device. You can use M365 SSO so that students log into ChromeOS with their Microsoft account - this can automatically sync over from Entra into Google. You can even integrate OneDrive into the files app.
