Hi all, we roll our timetable over in June for the last 4 weeks of the summer term. I have created the timetable and added J to it. I have never done the sims side of things ie promotion of year groups etc.
Does anyone know how to do this or point me in the direction of guide to do it?
Thank you all

Don’t promote year groups. You’ll need to do this as a timetable with their current year groups, then re-do it for September with the new ones

i don’t believe you can or want to promote them early!

We do. All year groups start their September timetables on 23rd June. Minus the new year 7 and new year 12. So I have to have it ready 😬

I was told to put ‘J’ in the model then promote all the groups. I will then have to revert to the old timetable, remove the ‘J’ and do it all again for September. I just don’t know how to get the year groups into the ‘J’? Is there are alternative to promoting them?
thank you

I'm assuming from your "J" comments you're referring to the old Capita method of creating a double timetable J7/J8/J9 etc for June/July and then running that one till September before reverting to the normal 7/8/9 etc which was used instead of promoting them? Then dependant on which of the two Capita routes you went it was either doing manual assignments or importing SLK files to assign students

Will see if I can dig out the guide as it's a few years old now if that's what you mean

I mean - I understand you want them to start the years early (we sometimes do depending on the curriculum and being prepared) but what I meant was, you can’t just move them up a school year in SIMS, as the academic year sets that. You can trick it, as mentioned above, or you create an interim timetable where SIMS still sees the students in their normal year groups, but also in their new classes.
