Filtering and Blocking Chat AI

Hi all, 

 

Interested to know your thoughts on blocking AI Chat, particularly in primary schools. We use Securly as web filter and their is a global policy to block AI Chat, but it does not seem easy to apply this to the students policy only. 

 

Some primary schools seem to encourage students and some would like to block it all (moving target!!) 

 

Clearly there are  safeguarding issues around AI

Massive safeguarding issue - and most of these services will have minimum ages, which is commonly 13 or 16 years of age.

Securly has a built in 'safe' AI engine which can be redirected too if any 3rd party ones are tried to be accessed. 

 

If the student policy isn't applying to the correct users I would think there is something amiss with the setup, I always advise using the browser extension not the pac file.

I’d be interested to hear what others are using/how they are filtering and monitoring the various AI chat functionality tools out there. Especially given the recent proposed changes to KCSIE.

As far as I can tell, none of the filtering products out there can do this?

Since we can't filter it properly, AI chat remains blocked to pupils until there is a technical solution that enables us to meet KCSIE, DfE Standards, and whatever garbage Saferinternet.org decide to have a whimsy on.

Good, that's the stance I've been taking too - just wanted to check I hadn't missed A.N.Other product/technical solution that can somehow monitor AI chats..
