I've got the KS2 whole levels for our Y7 intake from Key to Success, and I've used the scores to work out roughly the sublevels. To get the accurate information on sublevels is it just a case of waiting for FFT Aspire to (eventually) update? Thank you

NormalDistribution Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 The option I employ is to have a cycle of setting a KS2 level in July and then reviewing it in January/February. You can set sub-levels, even fine levels from the NCAtools data in July and then review it when FFT comes out. Last year I had to change 8 sub-levels out of a cohort of 240 in January. You can never get it completely right in July because you cannot compensate for appeals, but you can at least have the majority (95%+) of students appropriately levelled. The plus sides are you are not at FFTs mercy, teachers are off your back and in January you just have to say, new national data or appeals has come to light and now X, Y and Z’s sub-level has moved from this to this and targets have been adjusted accordingly. Important to remember that the sub-levels won’t be used by the time this cohort reach Y11, so really all their data is going to change anyway, so as long as it is ball park that’s better than no ball.
