chazzy2501 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 ubiquity are the cheapest, I can't say they are best value. The support is quite poor and this can bite when you really need it. You will be in their forums begging for answers.

You will be in their forums begging for answers. You can now buy proper support from them if you run some of their enterprise kit. Reasonably priced too! 1

You will be in their forums begging for answers. It depends how much hand-holding you need etc but we've run Unifi APs and switches for years and I've never been in their forums begging for answers. As pointed out you can buy support either directly from them or via companies such as 4Gon. Even if you paid for support they would still be far cheaper than the alternatives.
midweek Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 I've been using Unifi APs and Switches for years now. While there certainly was a period a few years back where their firmware was causing issues this hasn't been the case (for us at least) for some time now. Really like their stuff.
snagrat Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 I hear about firmware upgrades not being so good but only on WiFi. Are the switches more solid with upgrades?
FN-GM Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 At the price point for edge switches you could likely get a spare or 2. They might not be much help if it’s a software issue.
Primus Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 They might not be much help if it’s a software issue. There's support options now - both directly and through approved and certified third parties. 1
PotNoodleTech Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 When I ran unifi i literally hardly ever went on the unifi forums for anything let alone actually contact a person. I had 5 spare switches on hand. I think the "requirement" and gargantuan amount it costs for typical manufacturer 24/7/365 gold level support is overrated in most use cases.
gszech Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 278 x UniFi devices in total across the trust. Apart from UniFI Access, we got it all: switches, APs, phones, gateways, CCTV, RPS and cast devices. Everything works fine. Never had a problem with switches, but we always keep one unit spare as they are so cheap. My advice is to go with the Enterprise version of everything where financially possible.
