Based on the international best-selling book series by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time is a visionary fantasy that tells the story of a man destined to face the Dark One and save the world - or destroy it. In Season 3, as threats against the Light are multiplying, Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) and Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) embark on a perilous journey to the Aiel Waste to uncover the true fate of the Dragon Reborn. With the Forsaken in hot pursuit and Rand’s corrupted power growing stronger, Moraine must prevent the Dragon from turning Dark… no matter the cost.

Did the other trailers use "time" songs? Can't remember but, if not, may it could be a thing: "Time After Time", "If I could Turn Back Time", "Hammer Time" there must be more than enough to cover all seasons.

How did I miss you all posting about this without me?

 

I've been all over this!

I absolutely love this 3-4 week run before a new series releases. I get to be the biggest nerdiest version of myself :)

 

Thoroughly enjoyed this morning's 12 minute video. I have so many thoughts to record later tonight!

No it was always a time limited release. They dropped it onto prime video first then six hours later it want onto youtube for a week or so, then it was removed from YT to encourage people to go sign up.

I saw this first thing in the morning and got a copy on youtube WAY before amazon released this video :)

For this series?

 

Probably. Although Lanfear isn't in the books nearly so much as the show. I think they've been clever there to develop her character more.

 

A LOT happens in book 4 (the shadow rising) that this series is looking to do a fairly faithful adaption of. And all of the main characters should get their chances to shine.

Fair enough. It just looks like there's some weird "colour grading" going on in the poster - though I'm guessing the books were standard (for the era) european medieval fantasy?

 

I'm all for more Natasha O'Keeffe. Her and the lady behind her could have a duel of the cheekbones, though.

The colour grading thing is likely because they seem to be aluding to the ancient aes sedai symbol in this image.

Once a symbol of unity it is essentially a yin-yang disc without the spots with the white side now representing the light and the black now representing the shadow.

 

The problem I have with that though is that there are far fewer evil characters than good ones on this picture and whilst most of the evil ones are on the darker right hand side, I think it was done more as an easter egg for book fans rather than for any specific symbolism.

I've seen the first episode and it is brilliant!

 

Watched it last night and heartily agree!

 

Got a few questions mainly for people who were paying closer attention to earlier seasons than Mme LeMarchand and me.

 

 

  • Had we seen the short bad Red lady before?
  • Ditto the lady with the lovely hair who turned up outside the chamber to help the Red lady with the cheekbones?
  • When did Elayne change from being a well-meaning but flighty young girl to a strong woman?
  • When did Egwene get a makeover?
  • One from Mme LeMarchand: Will al'Lan now be taking his shirt off in every episode, or will he have to share that duty with Rand?
  • Can the producers send Josha Stradowski on an acting boot camp? Most of the young cast were shaky in S1 but have improved greatly, apart from him.

  • Ditto the lady with the lovely hair who turned up outside the chamber to help the Red lady with the cheekbones? Again who?
  • When did Elayne change from being a well-meaning but flighty young girl to a strong woman? Season 2 at Falme
  • When did Egwene get a makeover? After being freed from the Seanchan
  • One from Mme LeMarchand: Will al'Lan now be taking his shirt off in every episode, or will he have to share that duty with Rand? Probably shared, though they had the actor reading out thirsty tweets from fans which was hilarious
  • Can the producers send Josha Stradowski on an acting boot camp? Most of the young cast were shaky in S1 but have improved greatly, apart from him. He's doing a brilliant job. He's Rand. Rand is a fairly monotonous character with a lot of internal angst and Josha is nailing it. Things will change as his madness develops.

The "whos" were the lady who stole the artifacts and the lady who seemed to be in charge of the group that turned up outside the chamber when it was all kicking off and attacked the Reds and the guys who were already there. Looking down the cast pics, possibly Nyomi and Galina.

Josha seems to get the Rand that most books fans understood from the books. He feels natural to me for sure, but we'll get to see how versatile he can be when he gets to Rhuidean.

 

Nyomi was a brown, not a red sorry for the confusion there. We met her last series when Verin (Meera Syal) returned to the tower.

Galina is a new introduction this series and depending on how the adaption plays out, she should have a role for a while.

Link: 'The Wheel Of Time' Canceled By Prime Video After 3 Seasons (Exclusive)

Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives.

 

The TV adaptation of on the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, is a high-end, pricey fantasy drama, which ushered in the genre on Prime Video, later joined by The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.

 

Starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time.

 

Three seasons in, the series has remained a solid performer but its viewership has slipped, with the fantasy drama dropping out of Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart after the first three weeks of Season 3 while staying on the list for the entire runs the previous two seasons. (The Wheel of Time was back on the Originals list for the week after the Season 3 finale at #10.)

 

The Nielsen rankings reflect U.S. viewership. Streaming renewal decisions are made based on how a show does around the world, and The Wheel of Time is a global title. It did rank as #1 on Prime Video in multiple countries with the most recent season. Still, the Season 3 overall performance was not strong enough compared to the show’s cost for Prime Video to commit to another season and the streamer could not make it work after examining different scenarios and following discussions with lead studio Sony TV, sources said.

 

With that possibility — and the show’s passionate fanbase — in mind, the Season 3 finale was designed to offer some closure.

 

Still, the news would be a gut punch for fans who have been praising the latest season as the series’ best yet creatively. Prime Video executives also have spoken of the show getting better creatively every season, something supported by critics as Season 3 ranks 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from 86% for Season 2 and 81% for Season 1.

 

Prime Video and Sony TV will continue to back the Emmy campaign for The Wheel of Time‘s third season.

There's so much division about this show, it winds me up.  There's a massive contingent of folk who love it. and then a smaller very vocal bunch of people who HATE it so much they'd rather see it fail and never have another shot at it being made again than see this one come to screen.

It's about 10% of the book readership plus your usual internet trolls and incel-y types, but the make a lot of noise!

I've been busy in the evenings this week.  Somehow I've found myself in charge of communications for save the show campaign.

Lots of chatting with press has resulted in some decent publications writing articles about us which has had a real boost to the petition which now stands at over 73,000 people.

Next steps are fundraising for a bunch of publicity stunts.
