Question 1 is too restrictive - we allow a subset of students to access YouTube during specific lessons as it's helpful for course work, students not in these lessons do not have access to YouTube. Curriculum leader was able to prove to our Safeguarding lead that YouTube enable effective T&L, and we implemented restrictions as requested by safeguarding lead. So yes we allow some students, but no - the majority of students do not have access...

 

It might be worth adding 'Planet eStream' as an option to Q4 - I feel there are a fair amount of users of this service.

Q4 should probably a multi-choice and ideally non-mandatory. What if we get all of them? Or none of them?

 

Do you mind if I ask what you're hoping to achieve with this survey?

thank you for the input and i have updated the survey

 

i'm just trying to get a general consensus of which video platforms are used within the school really, also there is more of a backstory but cant really say on here

Q1 for our secondary schools is "predominantly no, but some time-limited exceptions for subsets of pupils where there's a defined T&L need that can be appropriately defined".

 

The main "why do you block youtube?" reason isn't to do with safeguarding (it's still filtered for staff) but productivity and staying on-task in lessons and private study.
