BenQ TRY01 remote controls are £100 each now, they were about £50 before so was thinking maybe some cheaper model should work as well as it is infra-red, anyone had experience with this model?

How can they justify £100 for a piece of crap plastic £20 max remote control??

Probably because they know it's mostly an education market buying the product and we've all seen how educational suppliers price their stock. But yes, £100 is outrageous, hell even £50 is.

Hi @Lxshm can I ask who advised you that the TRY01 was £100? The ex. VAT SRP price on the TRY01 is £46. It is possible to get bids on remotes to bring the price down as well. The issue we have at the moment is stock availability, we are waiting for stock at present. Another thing to mention is the functionality of the TRY01 as I understand it is different to the remote that was shipped with the RP7502 and there are some features that are not on the replacement remote (voice, spotlight, laser). However I have seen some second hand ones on eBay for circa £20 plus shipping. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Hi @Lxshm, I can see that one supplier had it listed at that price, I can also see someone with it listed at £45 ex VAT & shipping.

I have also got some clarification regarding compatibility of the TRY01 for you.

The TRY01 remote control (5A.FAX06.002) is fully compatible (including voice, spotlight & laser) and includes the dongle for:

RM02K, RM03, RM03A, RP01K, RP02, RP03, RP04

The remote works on the below, but is limited and does NOT support voice, spotlight & laser:

RE03A, RM02S

I have asked for clarification on a few other models not listed above.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Haha yeah actually on/off, volume, freeze screen and input select are pretty much all any teacher needs.

Theres a big gap in the maket for a budget remote control with 4 big buttons (a bit like your nannas old house phone) :D
