Fastening USFF/MFF Computer to Mobile Interactive Screens

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions other than good old fashioned cable ties...

 

We have a couple of early years units who have gone through laptops like you wouldn't beleive. I have looked at the expenditure on ICT hardware and it is obscene. Laptops are constantly getting broken, HDMI cables twisted.

 

There are 3 rooms. 2 have mobile CleverTouch screens on wheels with up and down electric lifters.

One is fixed to wall. The CleverTouch screens are the older models so we can't really explore getting the inbuilt computers that slot into these.

 

I am thinking of going for something like a Dell Optiplex MicroForm Factor, i7, wireless kb and mouse and 5 year Dell Pro Support Plus with accidental coverage based on the shocking number of replacement devices this area has had.

I am not seeing any brackets that would really help in fixing these systems to the back of the interactive screens so the children can't fiddle and damage the computers.

 

It looks like Dell do this, but I don't think it would really help as my aim is to keep the system up high and out of reach of the children.

 

Has anyone else found a better way to deal with this sort of situation other than simply cable tying the system to the back of the screen to keep it safe and secure?

 

Would be grateful of any suggestions

you got any 3d printers in school and a DT teacher that can do cad? make up a mount probably in 2 parts and bolt it to the stand with those auto-drilling metal screws you can get?

Maybe (without looking) just a sheet of 2mm-ish aluminium. Drill holes to match VESA spacing, and another to match mouning holes on PC. I have done similar in the past, but can't be sure that you can access the mounting holes while on the stand.

Could use these, bolted to the stand on the up/down ones. I have a few of these with the Dell USFFs in them (at desks) and have worked well so far.

You could even screw one to wall next to the screen for the fixed position one.

I've used something similar to this for mounting a set of Lenovo all-in-ones to a wall and a Dell USFF to under a desk.

Nano tape. I have used it to secure small computers to the back of display screens for digital signage. Use plenty and

make sure you stick it in the correct place first time as it is a real pain to get back off.

+1 for Nano tape. Replaced our heavy duty velcro usage.

Would a Vesa extension mount help? Might need some extra holes drilled to mount to the screen.
