OneDrive - users profile

Hi,

 

We moved to OneDrive over the summer and I thought I had it sussed but I can see that the local accounts are syncing the contents of their OneDrive to the local machines still.

 

I've got File On Demand set and its showing on the GP results as being active.

 

Am I missing something?

 

I can actually see 2 OneDrive folders in a pupils profile folder.. one a normal icon and the other OneDrive - domain name.

 

I really hope its not because I am on LTSC and I've installed the OneDrive client for myself...

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it really downloading all their files, or is it simply leaving placeholders on disk so they appear to be there but in fact only take up a few bytes each?

It shows the file size as large when I do a scan

 

 

If I go into the OneDrive client and click on free up space it seems to sort it.

Turn on storage sense and set it to a suitable period.

This is what dehydrates the files - ie removes the download and makes them cloud only

But I've uploaded all the student files to the cloud so they aren't on the local system.. it seems to be syncing all their files to the local drives.

Wasn't there a Windows 11 bug that caused either OD sync to try and pull everything down (filling the drive) or Windows to think the placeholders are full files and showing the drive as full. We had a couple of instances of this. Either deleting the user's local profile or just running the "free up space" option in OD Sync worked for us, and installing the latest windows updates seems to have stopped it coming back.
