saidei Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Hi We received email from Microsoft regarding 'Microsoft Security Upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Entra Connect Sync and Entra Connect Health by 23 September 2024'. Currently we are using Azure AD connect 2.2.1.0 Does it mean I just need to update Azure version or I need to uninstall Azure connect and install Microsoft Entra connect. Please advise. Thanks in advance
MYK-IT Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Download and install, it will upgrade existing Azure AD Connect installation retaining same settings. Think latest version is currently 2.3.20.0 Just check all pre-requisites beforehand/backup etc. 1
T_Lister Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Am I reading this correctly, you need the E3 or P1 paid license, won't work on the A1 Free?
Roberto Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 (edited) Entra ID Connect just syncs. It doesn't look at account licences. If you can (can't remember what the version numbers are for this) export config prior to your upgrade. Also check if you have any custom AD Connect/EntraID Connect rules in place before upgrading as those can occasionally be problematic. Also take a note of any errors in the sync metaverse beforehand so you can see if things are the same afterwards - or ideally better! Edited September 11, 2024 by Roberto
jthompson Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Just had another look at our installation. We have the auto upgrade option on, so ours is still Azure AD Connect v2.3.6.0 I'm assuming that when the next auto upgrade capabale version is released, it'll then be something named Entra ID Connect. Auto upgrade doesn't necessarily install each new release, since some releases are available only as manual downloads. As per https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/hybrid/connect/reference-connect-version-history, the most recent version available for auto upgrade is still 2.3.6.0.
saidei Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 I updated it this weekend. I had to install Net framework version 4.7.1 and it took too long to install but everything is working fine
