Jaan Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Anybody else received this request today? Nobody knows anything about it here and as such i won't be approving it...... ...i hate the these random requests come through via Wonde. There needs to be a more official way of 3rd parties being able to request access in the first place! Rant over cheers
Steve21 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 There's been a recent "updated" request for the DfE attendance via Wonde, but I've not seen a new one. It was just enabling more fields in the older DfE sync Steve
Jaan Posted July 18, 2024 Author Posted July 18, 2024 So at the risk of sounding like a fool, what does this sync with the dfe actually do? We've never approved a dfe request as we didn't initiate the sync in the first place. It just appeared one day. Cheers

Cheers As far as I'm aware, its for the collection of regional/national attendance data.
Steve21 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Daily collection of sessional attendance data. Daily collection of pupil level attendance, along with demographic data and some vulnerable children indicators. Used to support absence pattern and trend analysis locally, regionally and nationally, and to share back with the sector for operational planning and reporting. The DfE will contact you directly when your reports are ready to view. This can take up to four weeks from when you first start sharing daily data. It's part of the DfE reporting - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/share-your-daily-school-attendance-data - as Wonde have the contract to supply the data to them Steve 2

It has been an optional return previously but becomes mandatory in september. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/share-your-daily-school-attendance-data 1
Oaktech Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 We've been doing it since we all came back from Covid as part of a pilot. The fields have been updated a couple of times, most recently a couple of weeks ago, but yeah, as far as I know it becomes manadatory from September. Ultimately, whilst you can facilitate the connection the decision to decline or accept is probably above your paygrade and needs to be subject to a DPIA. 1

I've now had a reply from a senior staff members saying: "Sharing of attendance data is statutory from September. So we now have to allow the access." so somebody did know something!
