Warwick_Tech Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Hi All, I'm struggling to find a decent soundbar that can connect via USB (but can be 3.5mm) that's wall mountable; the kicker is it can't have BT, or at least be able to disable it with a physical switch. Anyone got any ideas?
Warwick_Tech Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 What sort of budget/usage? Nothing over £250 I would say, it only needs to be better than the built in speakers and provide some bass; they're for MFL speaking and listening so it's easier to hear speech inflections.
thimon Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I gave up with soundbars, nothing within a decent price range suitable for classrooms. Went with the standard two wall mounted speakers and amp setup.
TheHyperTechie Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Could go for something like this (https://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk/jbl-pro-soundbar-psb-1-p161286) I believe it only uses an RCA connection on each side, you could just purchase some aux to RCA cables though? 1
LeMarchand Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I see what you mean - non-BT soundbars are like hen's teeth. I'm sure that when I was researching a few months ago quite a few reviews marked down if there was no BT, but I can't spot anything decent atm (especially USB). That said, you normally have to switch to BT so if you're worried about students randomly connecting their phones it's probably not a problem. If you don't mind an adapter, you could add to the available options with a USB to audio cable. I'd look at the "home theatre" end as these will likely be wall mountable and have "voice enhancement" features. Unfortunately the one we went for has now gone over your budget, but the vocals on the Polk Signa S4 are great - my wife has some hearing loss in certain ranges and I no longer have to keep turning the volume up for her to hear the dialogue! 1
andy_b Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Can't vouch for the product - but something like this where you can change the PIN ? https://www.avpartsmaster.co.uk/vision-100w-active-soundbar-plus-sb-1900p-p161520
LeMarchand Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Has BT and only 3.5 (+ HDMI & optical) but might be worth some research: https://www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal/4367418?utm_source=mwebshare&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=2024-06-29&utm_content=4367418
PotNoodleTech Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Probably better off just going for a 2 channel chip amp and a pair of passive speakers bolted to the wall - should be more reliable less confusion about inputs etc and no bluetooth for sure!
