pe2594 Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 (edited) Hi all I have an issue in a school where we have the following setup: HP Elitedesk 800 G5 SFF desktop PC Connects to a monitor on the desk, and then a second display to a Promethean ActivPanel via HDMI After a period of inactivity, a screensaver will activate on the PC. On the Promethean board itself, there are occasions where when this happens it will detect an input on the HDMI source, but is unable to show anything. The "fix" for this is to switch the board off through the mains, and then switch back on again. This can work immediately on some occasions, but on others it can take 3 or 4 attempts. I can confirm the display drivers on the machine are up to date. The issue has occurred in multiple classrooms. We do have some Optiplex's which we've switched out with the HP and can confirm the problem isn't there for them, but I just wanted to check if anyone else has had the same / similar issues? Thanks! J4G0 Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Hi, If you have ActivBoards then you will want to focus moreso on the Projectors rather than the ActivBoards themselves. Or did you mean ActivPanels (big interactive TV)? In either case, I would be checking the following: 1. Display settings on the PCs - Lowering the refresh rate and/or resolution and testing after each change. 2. Cabling between the PCs and ActivPanel/Projector - Signal degradation can become a factor the longer the cabling becomes. Maybe try connecting a shorter cable directly, if currently using wallboxes/extensions/trunking. Hope this helps.
pe2594 Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 Oops, sorry I did mean ActivPanel. I've updated my original post That's great, thanks for your help. I'll take a look
Dan2025 Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 In our case it was the refresh rate that caused a very similar issue.
