Mr_Jiminy Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Hi, just curious to find out what people are doing in regards to scan to email, specifically in relation to this https://ourcloudnetwork.com/prepare-for-exchange-online-basic-auth-permanent-retirement/ We've been using SMTP basic auth, but are contemplating direct send, athough not sure how it will work with the MFP's. Is anyone scanning directly into OneDrive or Google Drive and if so, what means are you using to do this?
pablo007 Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Papercut here. Eh scrap that papercut uses smtp apologies.
Mr_Jiminy Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 Uniflow online here Thank you for this. Are you a full cloud environment or hybrid?
Oaktech Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Thank you for this. Are you a full cloud environment or hybrid? We've just gone full cloud from Hybrid at all of my sites.
Mr_Jiminy Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 Excellent, same for us, we're aiming to move full cloud by end of 2024 early 25.

jthompson Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 We point our MFDs to an on-prem mail relay (postfix), which relays on to a gmail smtp relay service. IIRC there's an equivalent relay service you can do with M365. 1
Mr_Jiminy Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 Yep looks like we can add the public IP to the SPF. We've previously tested a couple of cloud print solutions, it just hadn't dawned on us to re-test them with the scan to print.
robyholmes Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Just using direct send here. Easy to setup and just works. In tenancy only mind. 1
TechMonkey Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Yes, using Papercut for scan to email and scan to OneDrive. Just updated Papercut to OAuth. Not going to say it was a breeze but it works now. Monitor it for 24 hours as I set it up and then it fell over again. Alos read the instructions carefully as there was a login that clearly said in the instructions must be the intended user and of course I blitzed past that instruction and logged in as myself and it all went wrong. InPrivate/Incognito browser was a help. Only caveats are that the folder in OneDrive it scans to is non-obvious and the user has to accept an email link first. I have seen staff going through their OneDrive trying to find the scan but ignored the email so it never gets delivered. This is first time only though.
Mr_Jiminy Posted April 19, 2024 Author Posted April 19, 2024 Just using direct send here. Easy to setup and just works. In tenancy only mind. Went with this working option initially. Plan is re-visit with the cloud print solution.
