Firewall / Reseller Recommendations

We have persistent issues over several months with our Sophos XG which is mainly down to filtering issues so we've ended up on "experimental" firmware which has then introduced new issues. Without going into it further, we've given up with Sophos.

So we're looking for recommendations of a good firewall solution for a 2500-3000 student college. We've tried smoothwalls before, but then the support got really bad. Would also like to know of any good resellers and if you've had support for firewall through reseller or manufacturer as either a managed or co-managed solution.

Go with FortiGate from Fortinet. You won't be disappointed, particular in conjunction with FortiAnalyzer.

 

They can do very big bandwidths with a lot of power features.

 

We can also get you logs exported into our Incident management portal for safe guarding of students.

Agreed, you can't go wrong with a FortiGate as long as you purchase the right one for your network size.

 

I'm personally not a fan of the filter, but I know it's changed over time and definitely has some features that it was missing ~3 years ago!

We moved to Fortigate 12 months ago and it's a brilliant piece of kit.

 

We use the filtering side of things and it's worked fine for us.

Fortigate with Securly for filtering. The dream team imo.

 

Switchshop are Fortinet resellers/supporters, I can't comment on their support as I don't use it but for sales and service I can't fault.
