Morning,

 

Our external sharing policies on tenant level is set for new and existing guests.

 

We need to share training videos and on external users without requiring sign in.

 

Internal users need to share certain file and folders links don’t require sign in.

 

We don’t want to change current external sharing.

 

How do I achieve this?

Someone may have a better idea, or be able to prove me wrong, but I think you can't now. MS has tightened up SharePoint online to make it an internal resource, not for public use, and anon access is not something you can just do for whole areas. We were looking at setting up a Careers portal for distributing information to parents but had to abandon it due to someone would have had to either generate a link for each document or give all the parents an account. There is no blanket anon access.

 

So, your option is to generate an anyone with a link URL for each video and send them out, or give them logins.

I'm not sure how it would work with regards to potential data issues, but I share a folder on one of our Sharepoint sites that "anyone" can access - and run the URL through a link shortener (our primary domain is 23 characters, otherwise I'd run it as a subdomain) to access IT support files on machines at different schools (patches, Veeam installer, ISOs, etc)

 

Have also done the same thing in the past, but added a password and expiry date for the links.

 

All our internal users have seamless SSO, and all of our feeder schools are set up with Cross-Tenant access into our Entra tenancy, so they can be assigned permissions in Sharepoint to access stuff.

 

This was to accommodate a "Trust Portal" Sharepoint site, to share HR files, finance docs, and CPD docs with all our staff in the trust.

Global OneDrive Sharing policies can't be more permissive than the SharePoint ones.

Eg if you're Global SharePoint policies say "can only share with Guests", then that's the highest you can set the OneDrive ones.

You should be able to set per-sharepoint site exceptions, but that doesn't seem to let you go more permissive than the global options.

We have external sharing enabled but also restricted who can share externally using the option described in this page.

I made a new sharepoint site named Public and a library inside that names Public and shared a link that I put on our website. Hopefully it's obvious that everything put on there is public...
