Yesh, we have a hidden SSID to connect similar devices to, sits on its own VLAN. Got 6 X1 Carbons running, only staff have BambuLab though. We've gone with cloud control, and it seems to work fine, once we allowed the relevant ports through the filter (it's pretty well documented on the Bambu website). No 3rd party tools, until our engineering staff discover them at least.

Nothing since 2023, when we disabled calling & chat between students. I've now submitted an incident report to MS

Odd one this morning - All our global teams policies (Messaging, Meetings, Voice) have reset and disabled all options 😣 Anyone else had this issue today before I nuke our entire 365 tenancy and burn it all to the ground?

We've run Level 2/3 courses in Engineering (Solidworks) and Creative and Digital Media (Most of the Adobe CC suite), as well as Office. Due to questionable timetabling strategy, the classes are all over the school 😅 The admin staff get the small image with just office/VLC/other random bits on it

We use SCCM (MECM) very successfully here, but I'm quite excited to see something else. Autopilot is a big no, as we've got ~80GB of additional software that is baked into our image for all our devices. There's no way our trust would sign off on it, but it would be fun to have a play around with.

We've just moved from Impero Edu Pro to AB Tutor. For classroom monitoring and as a teaching tool, it is comparable. It saved us around £12k over 5 years

Hey Chill, Have you tried injecting it into the winpe.wim file using powershell? Apparently adding the "/ForceUnsigned" flag will get it to load even if the hardware. Hi Chazzy, we had the same problem with some longer length (90m) Cat6a runs in our 'new' build school. It took me a few weeks to figure out why the network was so intermittent in one of the rooms. As it was all still under warranty, the original installers came back out with a Fluke DSX2, and printed out all the attenuation graphs, which all tested fine when they plugged their meter in. We had quite severe link flapping between 100/1gbps too. I had to plug the problematic runs into a PC and run ping -t to the switch to show the link dropping out. The only solution we had was to re-run the room back to the network cabinet, or fix the PCs to 100mb FD.

Yes, we made sure the games we picked were all free-to-play. The British esports main student championships run with Overwatch 2, Rocket League, League of Legends, and Valorant, so is inclusive by design.

Students are expected to have their own Riot accounts (both our games use the Riot launcher). We do have steam installed on the PCs too, and students are expected to have their own steam login if they want to use it. They can log in to the PCs using their normal Active Directory accounts - the filtering is done based on the location of the PCs rather than the account (the esports PCs get student filtering transparently). What also helps is that our school is only Year 9 - Year 13, otherwise we'd have to stop Y7 and Y8 logging in (min age requirement for Steam is 13)

Hi - I'm the IT/thing with a plug manager at our school, and I did 4 years of P16 teaching (for my sins). We're running esports as an extra-curricular activity, and we're introducing the Level 3 BTEC in September, with it being so popular. The PCs we've installed are Ryzen 7 5900X with a RTX3060, 32GB memory, 1TB SSD. Monitors are 27" 1080p 100Hz 1ms interval. As most esports titles are optimised for 1080p, we specced the computers to be able to handle 100FPS in our esports titles (Valorant and League of Legends). Although it's difficult to predict what future requirements will be. We've got a clean internet connection coming into our Smoothwall appliance, so all filtering/whitelisting is done by us. The British Esports association publish a list of ports and URLs that need to be open, and a cursory Google/Reddit search found the rest. I set up a VLAN specifically for those machines, and they're not used for timetabled lessons, which helps. The 2 main sticking points were arguing with the teaching staff who *insist* we have Marvel Rivals on there, but I'm not giving admin permissions to users to they can run the launcher for it (which it requires), or punching a great hole in the firewall to let of the data back to China (where the launcher is published from). The other difficulty we have is getting Riot's Vanguard to work - it required TPM to be configured properly, and won't allow us to use screen monitoring/recording software (specifically Impero Edu Pro). Apart from that, it seems to work very well, the kids love it, and certain teaching staff love having the end of term 'knees-up' where we shoot each other for 2 hours and get pizza ordered to the school.

Yep, providing the kit isn't ancient - most of our suppliers will find somebody to provide a 3rd party warranty. At the moment we're using Kyonet.

That does sound like a problem. You could create a 365 email account/shared mailbox (it really doesn't matter) called "[email protected]", and set the transport rules for that (however you like with it being a 365 account) and then set up auto-forwarding to the existing allstaff@schooname distribution list? Edit: Could you generate an all-staff 365 group using the dynamic group membership rules in Entra? If the email address format is consistent for all staff, but not shared with students/other staff you don't want in the group for example.

Hi Kevin, In a quick nutshell We have a 3 node cluster here with S2D set up. There a 2x2 10GB NICs in each node. We have a direct network between each node, and then one of the ports on each NIC goes to the core switch (and backup core switch). We then run a 1GB line into the core switch for iLO. I think I still have the setup guide for S2D, I'll see if I can dig it out.

Scope of impact Some users may intermittently be affected by this issue when attempting to access their mailboxes using any connection method in Exchange Online or attempting to use their calendar in Microsoft Teams Preliminary root cause A portion of infrastructure which supports mailbox and calendar functionality isn't operating as expected, resulting in impact. Awaiting an update at 1100, essentially they've tried restarting the affected sections of infrastructure, and it wouldn't restart (according to the health page, around 0500 this morning)

What snagrat said ^^ You can easily test it by logging into the web GUI, selecting Configuration > Networks on the left, hit advanced options at the bottom, expand the 802.11 entry, and select 2.4GHz under band. We had to enable it in one of our IT rooms, as some of our new (2022) PCs had much better performance on 2.4GHz rather than 5Ghz. This was due to a combination of terrible network cards, broken antennas, and a questionable AP location.

It made more sense for us to have before we had a robust parent comms system set up. The feedback from our receptionist was "It works when we need to use it, but it's not humongously often". I guess a bag of stamps would suffice just as much.

We use a Quadient machine (I assume a newer model, as we've only been open 5 years). The only problems I've had with it is punching a hole through Smoothwall. Knowing the admin code (09430) helped to find the IP/Port range it was trying to talk to.

We used to have this issue too. If one of the cluster nodes rebooted or went offline, and the cluster witness could not be found, it would lock all the disks until both nodes were rebooted. The fix was moving the Cluster File Share Witness to a standalone storage device.

Veeam server runs on rack mounted physical hardware, not joined to domain. 2 OS SSDs in Raid 1. Hyper-V hosts live on their own internal domain, Veeam connects to that, rather than the public facing domain that the client PCs and users are a part of. Backs up to 12x8TB QNAP NAS on site (also not domain joined) and that backs up via a WAN connection (through our ISP) to another school in the trust, using QNAPs RTRR (real-time remote replication)

For our new esports suite Normal lock screen for students and staff. No intention of changing it any time soon. Anything that gets the normal blue Windows 11 lockscreen we know at a glance is having issues being joined to the domain.
