Preston Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I need to source a copy of Windows 3.5 server to run on an old RM network. Pupils are required to set up a network on these old machines using the server and 2 base units...problem is the original disk's have gone! Can anyone help?
MrDylan Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 If you'd asked about 2 months ago I came across our old ones. Unfortunately they got thrown out, sorry. Some of the tasks students are given, I'm sure the people that make them up know either nothing about school resources, IT, or both!
Preston Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 i hear you man, why the hell teach a kid to use something that is completely out of date and will probably never be used in a work situation in the future.... Beyond me
Dos_Box Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 WTH are you guys teaching? I'm all for the kids understadning networks, but I have never seen this kind of thing done in schools though!
E1uSiV3 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 uhh lol thats amazing for all the wrong reasons, but for the record, i have windows 3.11 for workgroups on floppy
Preston Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 thankfully im not teaching! im just the IT tech who has to sort out this silly problem. I've decided im not even bothering with 3.5, after some discussion with a friend i'll take a risk and put NT4 on. There better not be any complaints from the computing department!
Michael Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Surely Windows 2000 should work on this server and is by far more up-to-date than NT4!! Some of these kids will probably use Longhorn Server's successor as their first true operational server OS. @E1uSiV3 - I found MS Word for DOS 5.5 the other day, comes on seven floppy disks woohoo!
