andyheth Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Hi all, Can anyone recommend a free partition tool that will enable me to move a recovery partition? Or does anyone know of a trick to do this? I want to increase the C Drive disk space but cannot as the recovery one is at the end. Picture attached explains it. Thanks
Jcx500 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I’m sure I did this in the past with disk part , you can just delete the partition if it’s no longer needed , take a snapshot beforehand tho 1
jezi55 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I can cofirm, use diskpart to remove the recovery partition and then you will be able to expand. We had an external supplier setup some servers with 60gb HDDS which soon started to fall over so i had to expand about 5 servers this way. 1
TwistedHelixis Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 On my server I deleted that partition, then reduced c a bit and created a new one with the extra space Later I read something saying, remember to take a copy of the data in the restore partition first, then copy it to the new one. No idea if that's actually needed, everything seems ok on my server so far.
KK20 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I did a veeam backup restore when I needed to resize. The downside is that this is an "offline" change.
