Office 365 A3 Licensing

We are having an absolute nightmare with our licensing renewal this year as we are also looking to upgrade from A1 to A3 however based on the conflicting views from each supplier we approach for quotations I do not know who to believe. Having approached 3 suppliers 2 of them are telling us that the A3 licenses cannot be provided on the usual FTE count basis and that essentially we need one for each teacher however another supplier is telling us that we absolutely can do this and they have done it for other schools.

 

Is anyone out there using A3 licenses provided via a Microsoft agreement based on FTE count?

We only have Office 365 A3 for faculty and we needed to buy a licence for teach staff member who needed A3 uplift from A1.

The whole licensing process with Microsoft is just a nightmare every company we get a quote through produce something that looks entirely different with pricing that is massively different to the competitors so you cannot easily either compare them or tell if one is right or wrong...

My A3's were bought on FTE (campus agreement) 3 years ago, or at least I thought they were.

 

Problem is, i'm now trying to move to Office365 and I don't have enough licenses as MS issue the licenses based on how many you told them - ie FTE.

 

So when we renew in June we're going to have to buy one per staff.

 

Students are ok cos you get 50:1 ratio of staff licenses free for students.

We went from OVS licensing based on FTE about 3 years ago to a campus agreement based on A3 for Faculty. At the time the renewal quote for both was roughly similar (expecting a leap this year though!!).

Honestly I prefer it as I don't have the annual fudge that is being given an FTE count that I know isn't true.
