nicholab Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Hi does anyone know what OS Windows an HP DL380 G7 supports? Thanks
Norphy Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 "Supported" is not necessarily the same as "Works with". Chances are that this server will work with all current flavours of Windows Server and that necessary drivers are built into the OS these days. I think I've had Server 2019 running on a server of this vintage and 2022 is not significantly different. The same is probably true with most flavours of Linux too, although only RHEL and SuSE Enterprise are mentioned in the support document. The only tricky one, I think, is going to be ESXi. The last release that supported Westmere CPUs was 6.5 U3.
PotNoodleTech Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Usually best way to find this out is to go on the drivers section of the manufacturer website and see what O/S the drivers give in the drop down list. In this case it appears to be 2003 2008 and 2012 are supported. This doesn't mean 2019 and above won't work as they have built in O/S drivers for most things now - you'd have to try it and see.
Oaktech Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Can confirm 2019 will go on it without any difficulty. 1
ITGURU Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I'm running server 2022 on ml350 g6 without any issues including snmp monitoring. Whilst not supported they're not mission critical servers but hyperv replicas. our main servers are G10s. 1
nicholab Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 We got 2022 running on it did break the config of one server network interfaces. It working now but we see how it goes.
