Anyone else noticed the newest SIMS update has added links to teamSOS - this is not something we want! Anyone found a way to remove it?

(we could just block the website that it opens....)

Thanks

Sims is way behind on this game. Their original oncall system only worked if you had SIMS opened to pop up a message and no logs.

For the last probably 8+ years I built inhouse oncall system which we still use in the trust.

It extracts all students from sims daily automatically on roll, teacher selects year group name and photo matches, enter the details and submits as an email aswell as logging into sql database for reports.

All sorts or reports by teacher sending most oncalls students total oncalls, type, time of day, totals by year group etc.

Still used to this day.. should sell it lol

It is possible to remove. It's somewhere in the Sims setup menu. If you can't find it let me know and I'll dig out what I did tomorrow.

Obviously an affiliate link but look at what other information you are giving to this third party company if you or one of your users click on the link...

If you take the Focus> teamSOS route you are giving this unknown third party the following information...

  • PartnerLinkUniqueID (not sure what this is, maybe the ESS affiliate ID?)
  • SIMSUserExternalID (this is the the SIMS external ID of the person who clicked the link, i.e the person signed in to SIMS)
  • LANumber (this is the DFE ID of the LEA)
  • SchoolNumber (this is the DFE ID of the school)

If a user searches for a member of staff or a student and clicks the teamSOS icon at the top of that persons SIMS record they are additionally sending them the following...

  • StaffID (this is the internal ID of the staff member whose record the user was looking at)
  • StudentID (this is the internal ID of the student whose record the user was looking at)

Would anyone more knowledgeable about GDPR confirm that some of those fields contain PII? Certainly the StaffID, StudentID and SIMSUserExternalID are linked to a specific person and could be used to identify the person in some circumstances.
