Hi Guys,

We've been asked to "urgently" look at the Studybugs app, as the school would like to use it to manage attendance.

Does anyone use it? If so, is it any good? Does it work well for albescence reporting, automatic late messages, and weekly reporting to show trends in absenteeism?

Also if anyone is using it with Bromcom, does it hook up okay? And does write back into the attendance and communication logs?

As always, thanks in advance for any help.

We use it in our Junior school - our attendance officer loves it. It writes to SIMS (don't judge) and is simple for parents etc. to use. Weekly reports are ok for a quick check on certain pupils but could do more

We have it, but only because our LA was running some attendance-related initiative and was pressing hard to have schools install the sync agent. Can't speak to how well it works as we're not really the end users.

We use it at a secondary. Very good app the difficulty is getting parents to use it which does take some time and promotion.

We recently had a phone outage so parent couldn't ring in but they could use the study bugs app to log absence.

Hi Rob,

We recently rolled it out ourselves in a secondary. I can't speak for how useful it is as all I know is that Attendance are very happy with it and they manage it. As far as hooking up to Bromcom goes I don't seem to recall any major issues. I believe you have to pay for write back into an MIS. It's now the go to absence reporter rather than a phone in/email. As mentioned in this thread the hard bit is getting parents to use it.
