maxrebo Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I've recently setup a new VM and added the WSUS role, upon accessing it today I cant get to it with the error attached. it was working before the Half term break but when I come to connect to it today I'm getting : "Cannot connect to the virtual machine. Try to connect again. If the problem persists contact your system administrator. Would you like to try connecting again" Any way I can get this back? Its not the end of the world if I have to flatten it. Would just like to know why its happened. Cheers
rossibIT Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Have you tried restarting the host? Have had a couple of VM's like this due to an update or a change something along the line. When a restart it has brought it all back up again. 1
kevin_lane Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Are you able to connect to via the console connection ?
Olliedawg Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Do you get the same error with both the IP address, and the computer name? Could rule out a DNS issue. If you cant connect via a console session either something more peculiar has happened
jthompson Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Maybe before restarting the host, just try restarting the Hyper-V management service instead? Shouldn't affect any running guests. I've not encountered that particular issue in the OP before, though.
kevin_lane Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Have you changed any firewall settings ? Just thinking that even though it’s running via hyper v etc if your server is somehow outside of the rules of the domain and the server thinks it’s in a public or none domain environment it might be that the host is unable to connect hence the error then I’m wondering if this could be the reason Maybe you could try disconnecting virtual network and reconnecting and seeing if that works I’m presuming the vm starts up fine ?? And is running
maxrebo Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Thanks everyone. I restarted the host and get back access to it. I will continue to monitor it. Thanks again.
