Gimp C Drive Access

Hi everyone,

 

I was hoping some of you may be able to shed some insight on your setups with Gimp?

 

Saving within it's own file explorer means students can go back on their profile folders to reach the C drive. Whilst they are denied access to saving in the folders, they can create their own and also browse through the folders without issue. Do you any of you have a suitable way of restricting it?

I believe I fixed this by changing the starting directory on the shortcut.

 

You can access C: by right clicking a shortcut and selecting opening file location.

Would it work if you started in the users' home folder?

If users can create folders in the root of C you have a security problem, look up https://borncity.com/win/2023/03/11/windows-10-11-mock-folders-as-uac-bypass-security-disaster-leverage-applocker-and-srp/ and install the rootsec gpo, Microsoft broke it in Vista and it's still broken in 11
