Onedrive local storage

We use local profiles for all staff & I have noticed that some users local profiles are nearly 10GB in size. Investigated this and it turns out that when they get automatically signed into onedrive, it leaves a local copy these files on the machine, in the directory C:\users\%username%\Onedrive - School name

 

Is there a way I can prevent this via GPO? I think if this carries on over a long period it will start to fill up all of the C drives, especially with staff moving about..

You need to enable (via GPO/Intune) OneDrive Files On Demand

 

An example using:

 

GPO - https://www.thewindowsclub.com/onedrive-files-on-demand-windows-10

Intune - https://letsconfigmgr.com/mem-configure-onedrive-kfm-via-intune/

 

You could also combine with enabling Storage Sense if local storage capacity is low.

I turn on storage sense and have it set to be fairly aggressive.

Files get dehydrated if they're not opened regularly.
