[22h2] projector "wobble" after new windows install

I have a number of PCs that have started to display a "wobble" on the projector image following a re-image of Windows. We have updated the drivers, and tried various resolutions, with no improvement.

 

It can sometimes vary depending if it is in duplicate or extend, and doesn't always appear to happen

 

The machines are Lenovo M93P with Intel HD graphics

 

as anyone come across this? And more importantly has anyone found a resolution?

Rarely come across a display issue causing a wobble. It's usually due to how it's secured but could be possible. What cable is it using? VGA, HDMI?

It's always VGA, although soemtimes via a hdmi to VGA converter. We've checked all cabling is tight, not wrapped round power cables, etc.

Is it secured to a pole in the ceiling or something else?

As you've mentioned 're-imaging' of windows, I presume the projected image was fine before this took place?

A 'wobble' sounds like a physical / mechanical problem... we've had ceiling mounted projectors that 'wobbled' when the kids in the upstairs classroom moved around.

When the image 'wobbles'.. does the projected frame stay still and the windows image within it move? does the image move left/right or up/down? left/right could be phase shift within the projector. up/down could be sync issues in the signal or projector.

You say you've updated drivers... i'd be looking at trying some older drivers just in case 'something' has been improved but is actually makes things worse...

PS you could also try the re-start of the graphics buffer by pressing the Shift+Ctrl+Win+B

Check the driver in device manager and see if it says WDDM or not, if it does, that may be the issue and instead of the latest driver you may need to roll back to a 'proper' driver that isn't a WDDM one.

I would have doubted what you were saying - until 10 minutes into our staff training day, when the projection suddenly started flickering to a point of nausea.

 

We swapped to the PC in the booth rather than the floor for the rest of the day, then looked into it.

 

Anything running 'full screen' eg Powerpoint would flicker; if you took it out of full screen and just stretched it to nearly-full screen, it would be fine....

 

Various fiddling with cables, swapping inputs to outputs etc, and the problem has gone away but we couldn't put our finger on any one issue that caused it to go wrong mid-operation untouched.
