[ipad] Apple School Manager - Paying by credit card not working

Hi all,

 

Hope you are well.

 

Is anyone else having issues buying apps through Apple School Manager?

 

One of the schools I work at is trying to buy some apps, but when finance are trying the purchase them with a credit card, they get a window ' Contacting Card Issuer for Authentication', but nothing else happens. It just stays there.

 

We have tried it at different locations I even tried it at home to ensure that a firewall wasn't causing issues.

 

We contacted Apple, who just said that they couldn't assist with Payment issues.

 

I have checked and there are a few posts/articles about this issue, but they all say to use Paypal. Does anyone know if you can pay with Paypal on ASM?

I don't think you can use paypal in ASM. I only get the option to use Card or store credit.

 

We've started using the Store Credit option as finance prefere it. We go to a reseller such as academia and ask for £100 worth of store credit and pay them via PO.

I've only had this issue when purchasing items over £300 and then had to buy store credit as couldn't get it to work any other way.

I've had a few instances where a credit card issued to the school by the LA has been blocked from certain transactions e.g. Amazon, PayPal and also purchases via ASM, your may be blocked as well. It's very quick and easy to get VPP Credit from a selected number of AAES's so they can just invoice the school for the amount you need.

 

You can not use PayPal in ASM as a payment method.

I was having same issues last week but tried again today and all working fine again now.

There is/was a known issue with some credit card verification, which Apple confirmed to me on the phone. Our school card required a code be sent by SMS (over a certain amount) and it failed as the OP stated, not getting to the screen where you can request/put in the code. Apple told us to get store credit through our software reseller until they fix the issue.

Oddly enough getting the same issue here now; school card and my personal card in ASM. Apple rep smugly announced it's nothing to do with them, just two independent banks and accounts apparently doing the same things.

 

Anyone else stuck on this recently?

@JRA Hiya, yeah it would not work for us at all. No matter how many time we tried and the number of cards. Like you, Apple claimed the issue was with us.

 

We ended up buying Apple credit off Academia for the value we needed, they sent us a code and we added that to ASM. A lot less painful process.
