chazzy2501 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I have server 2019 members just fine the domain controllers x3 are 2012r2 the forest and domain are functional 2008r2. I think I can just go for 2019 in place upgrade but people are mumbling about SMB1.0 needing to be enabled. Do I raise the functional level to 2012r2 (can i) just to tickle some memories for those who did this 5 years ago Once I get them to 2019 I can raise again to functional 2016? cheers
DaveTheTech Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I've always been suggested to spin up a new DC, leave it for a day, turn off the old one Then see if anything breaks. Doesn't 2008r2 use FRS? Wouldn't that need to be migrated, then move into the new DCs?
3s-gtech Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 SMB v1.0 will be disabled when you go through that process, so check it’s not needed (it stopped some of our old NASs working back in the day, so I binned them).

chazzy2501 Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Thanks everyone, I got stopped by the new DC I was trying to add complaining about FRS being in use. doing a dfrs migration now! could have been messy if I tried an upgrade..
