To add a new 2019 server to the domain... I just couldn't find it.. We are not going to be friends.

 

in 2012 you right click.... in 2019 you chuck guess words at it for a few minutes the google it, then stumble into the old control panel and find it looking the exact same it has been for over a decade but buried.....ffs

I always hit Start and type "View advanc" by which time it has suggested "View advanced system settings" and I do it in there..... I can never find it either.

I always type in 'con...' and it usually suggests the Control Panel (although sometimes still unhelpfully decides to suggest 'Settings')...

 

Anyway then it's pinned to Start and Taskbar!

 

It's also in Settings > System > About... (To get directly there, right-click 'Start' and choose 'System') then in full screen it's in the top right 'Related Setting' System Info (or scroll down to the bottom if in a window) and you can't get there by typing 'System Info'

Isn't it just in "Server Manager" -> "Configure this server", and then click on the server name?

I always type..... sysdm.cpl to get me to the magic window with the option to add to the domain.

Not suggesting in any way that they have groups of developers who head off in different directions and do their own unrelated things.

 

Or that they can't (be bothered to?) work out how to do stuff properly in their new OS/interface, so just leave the old one there forever.

Type sysdm.cpl in the run box/cmd/powershell . Works on everything from XP onwards.

 

Might need to prefix with a & in PowerShell.
