Can anyone offer some advice on how automate the creation of folders within a team so that only student and teacher have access (not viewable by the rest of the students within the team)

We use paid salamnder to create teams per our arbor timetable

Assignments do this but its not what my teachers are after, they need a folder to dip in and out from that only they and each individual student can view

If it’s a class team then it will have a class notebook included. There will be individual student sections within the notebook, that only each student and the teacher(s) can access. Would that work?

Look in the "student work" document library. The Assignments app creates these folders just the way you want. We have entire departments that ignore the Assignments App UI and just use these folders. (Though the majority of department do make use of the UI and additional capabilities of the app).

To be clear, the assignment app, when the first assignment is created (this can be a dummy/placeholder assignment) creates all the folders. The teacher / owner can see all the folders, but a student can only see their own.

Hi sorry I cannot see where this is "student work" document library.

Ours is setup with Class Teams they all have a class notebook which lists all children and only children have access to there part and the teacher can see all children in the class notebook, however we would like folders too.

I cannot see where to set this, using the assignments app?

create a 'dummy' assignment using the assignment app in the Team, and this provisions the Student Work library, which can then be added for easy access as a tab.

We use Cloud Design box (link Cloud Design Box - Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Specialists) for a lot of our SharePoint setup, and they have scripts that run to create these in all our class teams. They create a "Student Work" folder on the files tab in which each student has a separate folder permissioned for them (updated with new folders if students move classes). Team owners then have access to all of the folders. Our staff have found these useful for longer project work

We also use Salamander as well - from conversations with both they are used to working together, with salamander doing the SDS and CDB doing the SharePoint side.
