Exam software - text to speech software

Hi All,

 

We currently use Text Help Read & Write however this is costly at £2kpa and an annual 5% increase each year.. and a PITA, what do you all use? We looked at Claro Reid, were told we need a site license and I believe they are owned by TextHelp now so doubt pricing will be much less.

We just need Text-to-Speech that is easy to deploy to 20 odd exam laptops and works offline. This is all thats needed from R&W--->

ExamWritePad already has the ability to narrate the pupils written work and will have the ability to read a loud the exam PDF paper in the next version but not right now.

 

Other than that I cannot think of any other offline other than the built in Windows stuff.

We're going to look into read, write Gold soon as it does text to speech but also does narration. While we don't need narration at the moment we will next year. The license is either an annual individual or site license, if I remember correctly once you have 6 or 7 users the site license works out cheaper.

We use ExamWritePad - this is our school's first year doing GCSEs, we're just getting 4 laptops set up with ExamWritePad on at the moment. I'm really mostly replying to this thread just to say thankyou to @ass17 - as pointed out above, similar solutions are £2,000 per year, but ExamWritePad is both free and excellent. It actually solves the exact things we need to be able to (turn off/on-able spellcheck, text-to-speech, etc), and really is a solid, comprehensive bit of software.

I would also like to give my thanks - my school has been using for the past 2 years. Aboslutely brilliant bit of software, i would recommend to anybody who needs exam software. - hats off to you ass17

We use ExamWritePad as well so thats fantastic news to hear you will be adding the ability to read PDF papers!

Highly recommend ExamWritePad to anyone in Edu!
