[sims] Do I need to disable account when they leave? (make inactive)

(sims) When staff leave HR put a leaving date in the HR area. Am I supposed to make leavers inactive (checkbox) in the system manager>Manager Users area? If so why - seems a bit of an odd manual process, why need to do a task in 2 places? when also I might not know they have made someone a leaver? Edited March 22, 2023 by coolhands

I would say it's worth marking them as inactive, yes. It prevents those accounts from potentially being able to access the MIS.

If using trusted auth (i.e. linked to AD accounts), it's a little more secure if those AD accounts are then disabled, but I've run into problems in the past with a long list of trusted auth accounts in SIMS linked to no-longer-existing AD accounts. Some SIMS db cleanup patches failed on me because of the missing AD users, and only worked once I'd marked each of them as inactive within SIMS.
