At our MATs HQ, we have two Ricoh MP C5503 copiers, both refurb purchases and aren't on any lease.

HQ now wants to do secure printing on them. There is the Locked print option, but this is per user setting and is lost on application closure.

The alternative is PaperCut but is it possible to purchase PaperCut on it's own, without hardware lease? Are there any better solutions for this scenario to Papercut?

Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

Yes, you can have PaperCut on it's own without leases e.t.c which is what I put in at a previous school.

You would just need a PaperCut license on each MFD.

Depending on budget also there is Papercut Pocket with is relatively cheap but not full blown Papercut, they have Hive but this requires a reseller IIRC

I'd install Papercut NG for a free trial and you get a release station licence for testing purposes; so can put a laptop or something next to one of the MFDs for proof of concept

and then move to Papercut MF and pay for the release station embedded in the MFDs own software.

Thanks. May ask where you made the purchase from? The site always says available from reseller only.

IIRC you can only get Pocket directly, rest you Hive, MF etc you have to go to a reseller
