Level 4 apprenticeship course providers

Hi,

 

I am currently looking for a apprenticeship provider who offers a level 4 qualification that isn’t specialised on networking or cybersecurity. Basically more of a IT generalist course.

 

A couple of years ago our previous provider did offer a course like this. Which my last techie did, but no where seems to offer this now.

 

I have looked at the networking course for my current techie, but I can’t provide the onsite requirements for the course as he wouldn’t be setting up switches every day.

I am currently on a level 4 course with Baltic apprenticeships, its an 18-24 month course but appears to be worth it so far, its all done via online adobe connect classes if that's of any interest. It doesn't require much onsite requirements other than completing a learning diary of apprenticeship related work that's been done on site

That’s the provider I have used before. When talking to them we worked out I couldn’t help my technician provide enough evidence to cover the course requirements. How much networking do you do in your role?

I am an Assistant Network Manager in my current role but aside from the odd vlan setup now and again and troubleshooting connectivity on existing switches most of my work doesn't involve a large amount of issues relating to networking, I think they just prefer you to set networking tasks for your apprentice and document them, but they don't seem to define what "network tasks" constitute so I believe there may be some wiggle room there, it may be worth speaking to them again and just seeing if there's a way it can be incorporated as the course seems worth it so far.

That’s exactly the amount that I could prove with my techie. I have some ideas of a plans such as a couple of projects to secure the network. Such as setting up access control lists, 802.1x setup port and user authentication, and maybe implementation of gvrp vlans. I might go back for chat. Thanks

I have been contacted by a company called JUSTIT about level 4 apprenticeships.

 

Does anyone know if this can be done for current staff, or is it new/young only?

My trust have been promoting Apprenticeships for current staff for a number of years now, it's a great way to upskill existing staff.

It all sounds very interesting and feels a bit why not! We're just trying to understand the timings and how it will effect the working week.

I have come across similar and was interested in pursuing a certification related to Data Analysis. However, the scheme was not available to part time workers. I would encourage anyone who has the time and interest in moving their career forward, to look closely as to what is on offer.
